About Us

Lisa Malek

Lisa Malek, LCSW-R, Clinical Social Worker

Seeking help when a life issue is bringing you pain is a courageous first step in your healing process. I look forward to supporting you in order to further your healing process. I provide therapy services for couples, families and individuals.

I’ve been fortunate to have had diverse experiences in my professional career for the past 25 years teaching me a wealth of knowledge, understanding and patience, which I seek to share through the therapy process with you.

I am of the belief that healing and change are a process that is nurtured through a therapeutic relationship that is respectful, mindful and supportive, which is what I will provide to my clients.

My style is warm and nurturing while providing empathetic challenges and openness to help facilitate your goals.

I look forward to working with you

What you can expect in counseling sessions:

  • Expect to be listened to very carefully.
  • Expect questions designed to  encourage self-exploration and growth.
  • Expect to explore your current thinking patterns.
  • Expect to work hard in order to make the changes in yourself that you seek.

Let’s start the process together!

I follow all HIPPA regulations about the privacy of your participation in therapy and your records. Client  records are kept in secure places and my computer is used only by me.

What is an LCSW-R?
In New York State, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is a person who has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university and has passed the state’s licensure exam.

The “R” designation is only awarded after a licensed Clinical Social Worker has had a minimum of 6 years of postgraduate professional supervision, and has met strict credentialing guidelines.

The “R” designation allows for third party insurance reimbursement. Prior to September 1, 2004, the license “Certified Social Worker” (CSW) was issued by New York State; the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license replaces it.

For more information on license requirements, please go to the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions page on Social Work.
